Talk about timing! Just as I've been thinking about the origins of the favourite wedding verse 'something blue..' here on the blog, Charlotte Mills and her fabulous range of wedding shoes drop in for a Five Minutes With Feature

A warm welcome to you Charlotte, I am so impressed with your wedding shoes that I'm thinking of the scalloped edge white peep toe for myself as a just because purchase as I have been looking for a white pair of heels for some time (honestly, the heart shaped scallops just kill me), but I'm worried it might scare the boyfriend. Still, that may not be enough of a deterrent. And here's why:

Yes you see right. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe" is stamped on the soles of these shoes. Swoon. And when I first saw these I really didn't know how such an ingenious idea had passed me by in 11 years of wedding planning?! Was I blind? Was it statistically possible to have never stumbled across them before? Then I realised - Charlotte Mills and her shoes started out earlier this year. So if you haven't seen these around during wedding season these past few months - mark my words, you will. Here we have beautiful shoes combined with wedding memento and  heirloom potential. Genius. But there's more:

"The purchase of your beautiful shoes provides your “Something New”. Every box contains an envelope, this is your “Something Borrowed” to send me a picture of you in your shoes on your special day. Our branding along with the luxurious packaging give you your “Something Blue”. And each pair of Charlotte Mills Bridal shoes has an original silver sixpence inside the left shoe, that’s your “Something Old” and a “Silver Sixpence in your Shoe” taken care of. This message is also embossed into the leather sole."

I just love Charlotte's idea for the 'something borrowed' as I know this part of the verse fulfilment on the day actually stumps quite a few brides and it's also the reason I have a pearl pendant necklace I only ever wear to weddings for precisely this reason (pearls go with everything and it's been worn by at least 20 brides to date). Well, it looks like from now on, the pearl can stay put!

"The Charlotte Mills Brand offers affordable luxury to style conscious brides giving them a more fashion forward option to traditional wedding shoes. We create beautiful, elegant, fun, romantic designs we hope brides will fall in love with and want to wear again and again after their wedding day."

Of course, we couldn't sidestep getting to know Charlotte just a teensy bit better and she graciously obliged by answering the hard hitting questions below:

Yes, I got Married to my Amazing Husband Ross in 2010. The day just flew by. I wish I could do it again. The whole day stood out - every moment of it was fantastic.

Favourite wedding custom?
Its got to be the phrase “Something old, Something new, Something borrowed,
Something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe.”

We have covered all bases. The Sixpence is also the something Old, The Something New is the shoe, the Something Blue is detailed on the insock and the Something borrowed will be inside the shoebox. Brides love this old tradition. This detailing is unique to Charlotte Mills Bridal shoes.
