Peridot is a decidedly romantic stone. Coming in various shades and clarities of yellow toned green, Peridot can be almost clear coloured to a dark green so jade toned that it's sometimes used as a 'fake' emerald.
Peridot is mentioned in many ancient references as chrysolite. It is mentioned throughout the Bible, and early Christians considered it sacred. Today still, Catholic Bishops traditionally wear a ring of peridot and amethyst as a symbol of purity and morality.
The ancient Romans wore this stone to get out of depression. As peridots have a tinge of yellow, they are known as Sun Stones which are thought to bring warmth and happiness to the wearer.
