I can almost feel the collective blood pressure of nervous brides to be rising in defiance. Big pants?! on. my.wedding. day?!
But before you say, 'no way!', think about your dress. Underwear is the foundation garment your dress sits on and relies upon to hang, swish and swirl in all the right places. Most women are actually not accustomed to wearing formal and structured dresses and for many, their big day will be the first time they find themselves carrying around several pounds of dress.
The right underwear can make a visually significant difference to how good you look in your dress. This is because control and compression underwear changes the way your dress clings to your body. It keeps your dress in place and often keeps the dress in 'fall' from your body which is exactly what you need if you want to prevent your dress riding up, bunching or shifting as you go about your day.
Most brides never wear their dresses until their big day - this means that they don't actually know how the dress will behave after sitting, standing, walking around, getting in and out of cars and general movement like hugging, embracing and picking things up.
Control underwear helps your dress stay put and will dramatically cut down on the likelihood of you having to 'adjust' yourself throughout the day. You need the right underwear - think of it as the first layer of your dress - and that underwear is more often than not, functional rather than pretty.
Many brides to be can't summon up the courage to wear these functional underthings - and especially not on their big day. But ask yourself this - who is actually going to see your underwear? If you're worried about your wedding night being ruined with scenes of granny style beige coloured tenting putting a damper on things - relax. You'll have plenty of time to slip into your gorgeous, sensual and slinky bridal night lingerie when you get out of your dress. And by the time you do, some 12 or more hours later, you'll probably be a bit sweaty and glad to get into something less cumbersome. And this means that the only person who'll see your functional support wear is whoever helps you get in and out of your dress on the day. Most brides leave their dresses behind with their chief bridesmaid at the reception when they change into their second dress or outfit, so its really not an issue.
If you can't do it for yourself, do it for your dress :)
You may not think you need control underwear. You may be fit and healthy and think you already look pretty good in your wedding dress. And you might, But the right foundation garments can make you look better. Control underwear doesn't change your size or shape, it defines what you have and makes clothes hang from your frame, eliminating any minor bumps and bulges that would otherwise be accentuated by fabric.
Did you see this image splashed around news media a few weeks ago? Jennifer Affleck, a slim and beautiful Hollywood star relies on control underwear to look her best on the red carpet. And she's not the only one. Functional underwear makes everyone look better.
