Loving: Floral Alice bands

I have fallen in love with floral alice bands all over again. Summer just flies by and June is already a week in so I want to squeeze as much wedding frivolity out of this month as I can. Because let's be honest, if there's one time you can indulge unabashedly in all that is quintessentially feminine and wonderful - a wedding is that time.

I'm tired of fascinators, they just never worked for me. Too much fluff and not enough hat. And hats, much as I love them = hat hair. So, my answer this wedding season is floral headbands. There was a time when you really couldn't buy a nice floral headband and I remember that time all too well. Fortunately the days of dust collecting plastic roses that look like, well, dust collecting plastic roses is over. And I have proof.

As a florist, I make my own fresh flower circlets when the mood strikes me. Its been a perk of the trade, being able to make and wear fresh roses, violets or oakleaf foliage along with my banged bob for years and all in the name of work. This is the only way I can explain missing out on the floral headwear revolution which appears to very much be taking place right here in the UK. 'Flowers on heads' is no longer the exclusive privilege of flower girls in smocked dresses. And I'm so glad because I was beginning to think I'd have to restrain my love for all things floral on the head to discrete slides and clips. But rather than quelle my enthusiasm, it looks I'll be embracing it more than ever this summer and for the first time ever, I'm even seriously considering purchasing a silk flower option because frankly, it's never looked more tempting. And yes, you can buy them. And no, I haven't even considered all the possibilities because that would be a whole day just gone, in the blink of a screen.

The 4 pics here are all located right here in the UK and there are hundreds more styles where they came from. This blog post is not an advert. The talented women making these marvellous creations have not had any contact with SomeHoney, so when you visit, say hello from me
