I don't know why vintage beauty adverts are so addictive, but addicted I am. Anyhow, I was really thrilled to find this one. I think its so funny. Frankly, I would love to talk makeup with an 'Avon' lady but these days I get my Avon fix online.
It's already August and I am loving these products. Here's why: this body moisturiser actually does moisturise and is light enough to put on before hosiery. This is especially comforting in winter under opaque tights but it does have a secret weapon ingredient for summer also - it repels mosquitoes.

WHAT?! Yep, it really does! I am one those unfortunate women you'll see juggling her drink in one hand, slapping herself with the other. Oh the summer slap - this is a dance I know all too well. To say nothing of the weeks of itchy mossie bite blisters I get afflicted with. I know I should use an anti mosquito spray but they stink and I just can't stand them. I'm funny about perfume anyways and the scent of anti mosquito sprays makes me retch. I found out the double duty of this product completely by accident; standing next to a BBQ, at dusk on a warm summer evening and guess what? no bites. I racked my brains to work out why - and since then this dry oil has become my go-to product. I didn't know its urban legend status in repelling insects before I discovered it for myself. But now I'm hearing other women proclaim this fact for themselves. Avon don't endorse this product as an anti mosquito product (maybe they're worried it will put people off?) but as a pale woman with apparently delicious blood, it worked for me. And don't worry about the smell, its lovely. Oh yeah, it moisturises too!

My nails are almost always painted. In the last 2 years I've been using gel nail polish exclusively. I started with CND Shellac and my own UV lamp off ebay, but since then, luckily, lots of brands have come out with UV gel polishes and that's where I've been. I get a good 14 days wear from my polishes (sometimes even longer) and once you've had a 2 week manicure you just can't go back. The other major bonus is how your manicure is
done as soon as you've blitzed it - that means no waiting around for wet fingers to dry like you have to with a regular manicure. I can't stand waiting for my nails to dry, it drives me crazy. And I always smudge,
always. And I can't live with smudges. So I always seem to find myself fixing my manicure within hours of doing it - and that gets boring fast. But I do like to try new things and these sprinkles hit the spot.
I love them. I'm using up my Sally Hansen colours from before my gel days and instead of waiting for them to dry and avoiding the smudge - I just dip. Nail beads have been around for years, its true. But never at this price and never as user friendly as these. Don't wait, shop the sprinkles!

My bathroom is my own personal haven and I'm always after new scrubs. This ginger one is lovely for soft, exfoliated feet. Simply scrub on and then rinse. I don't only use it on my feet either, I love to use it as a leg exfoliant in the shower for perfectly smooth pins.
I still haven't found the perfect volumising product to give my bob
the boof I'd like, but this barrel brush is a keeper. Before this one, I was using a small barrel on my chin length hair, but I find this one dries quick and adds shape much better. I know so many brushes are so pricey and I almost purchased one at my hairdresser for three times the price of this one. It's a steal.

I'm travelling a lot at the moment (it feels non stop) and my lips just aren't keeping up. I was using the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip cream, but actually prefer this one. It's actually a lip pumping conditioner to make your lips look fuller, but I'm using it like a lip balm and I love it. No chafing or cracking and by the time I do put on my lipstick, no horrible dehydration. I'm stocking up to keep one in each handbag. Once you try it, you won't be without it.
I've only recently reconnected with Avon and I've been surprised by the range and quality of their goods. Personally I'm loving these products which are mostly body care. I've got some new makeup in and I'm looking forward to trying it out this month and letting you know what I think in a few weeks.
