Speaking of keepsakes, do you know that the traditional gift for your first anniversary is paper? Looking at these bespoke maps, it occurs to me that you could have a 'relationship map' drawn up if you're looking for that special something on paper. I really love that idea as these illustrations just draw you in.
I don't know about you, but I'm just one of these people who need directions to get any place (even if I've been there before) so these are the kind of invitation I want to receive. Edward was kind enough to answer our Five minutes With Questions so here's a little bit more about him:
What does your typical day look like? I arrive at my studio at about half nine and get down to emails and make coffee. When buzzing I switch on the radio and plan out my day ahead.
I draw designs, scan them in, edit them on Illustrator, colour them in on photoshop, print them off, drink more coffee, take a photo of the print out and send it to the client for approval.
The funnest part is the ideas stage. When a client approaches me for a rough design I like to incorporate as much detail and personal touches as possible. It's great to hear about them and find out what makes them so unique; where and how they met, shared interests, tastes etc. From this I research imagery and draw up rough sketches for free and without obligation. Hopefully the client is wowed and a final layout can be agreed upon.
In the unlikely occurrence that I have spare time at the end of the day I work on large scale illustrations using my very fine pens. At around half 7 I have a tidy up and wash up any cups and crockery. A messy home makes a messy mind!
Then it is back on the tube homeward bound with a bulky book in hand.
Favourite quote? "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle" - Plato.
A little overused nowadays but definitely necessary to get through the morning tube rush.

Edward from the Skinny Nib has stopped by to share his work with us here at Some Honey, and isn't it lovely! I'm really fond of hand drawn illustrations and I especially love Edward's maps which are personalised and I think made a wonderful keepsake too.
